Is there a shift taking place in the EAFC community?
Every summer, the arrival of the newest edition of EAFC is highly anticipated, and this past summer was no different. Annually, EA releases a schedule of "deep dives" that break down all of the upcoming features for the new game.
Notably for the Career Mode community, EA released its deep dive on August 1st, before the Ultimate Team deep dive on August 5th. This year’s dive introduced many exciting features for Career Mode players. These include:
The ability to use manager icons and heroes as managers, alongside the option to create your own.
A new "manager market" that allows managerial changes within your game save, just like in real life.
A separate "authentic" gameplay type specifically suited for offline play.
And much more.
One of the most striking community-driven outcomes of these releases was the public viewership numbers on YouTube. Users on EAFC subreddits have taken notice of the drastic difference in viewership. As of this publication, the Ultimate Team deep dive has 1.2 million views, while the Career Mode deep dive has 2.4 million views. This is a drastic doubling in viewership for a video that was released only four days earlier.
What does this mean for the Franchise Faithful community?
The community has spoken once again. For years, FIFA/EAFC players have longed for more developer attention to be spent on Career Mode, but each year, the additions and reworks have seemed lackluster at best. This year, EA's commitment to listening to player feedback was evident in the Career Mode deep dive. As the numbers show, players are excited to see it. We at Franchise Faithful hope that this public surge in viewership proves that Career Mode players have a loud voice and want to use it to drive positive change for the EAFC series.
